.

I posted a picture of   white and black wolves to represent as a metaphor the Divine as both Light and Dark, As the alpha male and alpha female, and as wolves need the community of their pack to survive, so does the Divine Couple ,as well as ourselves , need the life of the community to survive. And this Divine Couple is not necessarily that which is good and evil, but that they represent us, and the need for , both the light and the dark, the white and the black. The divine in us , is not either /or ,but both.

I have lived in this world as a Christian and as a Pagan, what I have discovered ,is that these 2 paths really have  different ways of viewing the world around them, especially,in their diverse views as to  what is the light and what is darkness. What I have found in Christianity ,that I do not agree with , is that it stresses, the denial of our bodies/flesh and dying of self, I believe we can not , and  must not, deny either aspects of our soul which is spirit(my higher self) and body,(my lower self) ,but that both are needed in this world, We need the light and the darkness to be whole and alive and fully human ,in this world.  The Pagan view of darkness is not evil or sin,  'sin, or missing the mark'. To a  Pagan  the concept closest to what 'sin' might be, is when we are out of balance with these 2 forces of light and dark. This notion of 'Sin' would be, over- indulgence  of the extremes in both areas, like in gluttony or not eating enough to be healthy, or  drinking of alcohol to the extreme, gambling away ones paycheck so they can not pay their bills, or allowing our emotions to get out of hand, emotions are a good thing but not kept in check become like a wild fire consuming everything in its path. We must keep the flame burning but within the boundaries and limits that we set. When we live out of balance  in either extremes, our life can be consumed, in our over indulgencies. All things are lawful, all things we can do, but we must never become a slave to what we do or indulge in. We must live a life in moderation to the two forces of the divine and sacred within us, and not be come the slave to either, but walk in balance honoring both aspects that are within us.

In Christianity, the main point of focus is denial of the sacredness of our physical bodies, while mainly honoring the spirit, and the spiritual . In Paganism, the main point of focus is to honor our sacred selves  as being, both a body, (lower self), and a spirit(higher self), and honoring the right for both to exist in this world. We must never deny our bodies and  just ,honor our spirits only.

Sin to me is being out of harmony with ourselves ,  as a Pagan ,for me ,it is when we as a spirit(the higher self, higher meaning the realm from which our spirit comes from), allow our bodies(lower self) to do as it wishes, and it will ,if not kept in check, It is the job and role of our Spirit(higher self to keep the desires of our bodies in moderation, not to deny our desires or pleasures, but to honor our desires and pleasures by NOT becoming a slave to them. Moderation in all things is a key, we can do anything we wish, as long as we harm not ourself or others, harm occurs when we step out of balance, and become slaves, and addicted to our  desires and  our pleasures.

In Christianity , sin is thou shall not do...... and let any church, denomination or, preacher fill in the blanks to what'pleasures' they believe the bible says it is . Sin is lack of faith, sin is the transgression of the Laws of God, and sin is disobedience to what ever the interpretation of various denominations on what the bible says we are to obey , is .

The pleasures of the flesh, is a good thing, a sacred thing, and a must if we are to live well , joyful, happy, in balance and in harmony in the world.  It is not about denial of self or denial of the flesh as in Christianity, but balance and moderation, and living with joy and honoring the SACREDNESS of PLEASURES that the spirit can only experience through the sacred temple that is our fleshly  bodies, here on this sacred planet, we call Mother Earth. The physical IS the manifestation of the spirit,it is the place for our Spirits our Higher Self to gain the experience and knowledge of all the dualities of life , and to see what works and don't work, for the greater good of all, this is  what I see is some of the differences of these 2 paths.

Blessed be
